The Chaos Alembic of the Spider Lords!

In this prologue and character creation session, a number of characters were established, and the Explorers traveled to an alien world to seek out the Chaos Alembic, a device rumored to be capable of purifying juvenat from various sources.

Our explorers:

Juri - Voidmaster - born aboard a Pilgrim vessel
General Szaak Zero - Archmilitant from a noble line
Felix Fortunato - Young ship's Navigator with oddly jointed bones
Skykes - Astropath Transcendent, extremely young
Kraxius Bent of House Grendal - Rogue Trader, next in line for the throne, bastard child of Azarach Grendal.

The story began at the dawning of the 42nd Millenium in Port Aquila , a collection of planetoids that forms a major trading hub within the Askellon sector, an area of Imperial space far from the shining light of the Emperor. Due to recent civil disorder (including the betrayal and death of the sector prefectrix), juvenat was in very short supply, putting the current holder of the Grendal warrant of trade in danger of dying from old age.

Following up on rumors of the aforementioned Chaos Alembic, the Explorers spent time getting in touch with their contacts, sending out canvassers, and studying up on spider-like xenos breeds. Eventually, Galliac Harthos, a shipping captain and old pal of Szaak Zero, was able to put the group in contact with Carm "Bones," Caradoc , a legitimate businessman (smuggler of xenos artifacts), who offered information on a world, Kyprios IV, where an advanced species of spiders' great cities now molder beneath jungles full of dangerous animals.

He offered this information on the condition that the explorers promise to destroy ancient defensive platforms, and threated to kill the explorers if they dare to disrupt his trade in sculptures from the planet.

The group then set out into the void in the frigate Santa Cumulus. Felix set a course, and established that due to eddies of the warp, it should take roughly 50 days to travel to the Kyprios system from Port Aquila. There were some complications while en route, including shipboard statues coming to life, but morale was damaged more than anything else.

From there, the group traveled to the planet, and Skyxe used psyker powers to attempt to find intelligent life on the surface itself. Finding only animals, the group proceeded to the surface ruins, and after some debate, decided to land on them directly, and use a laser cutter to enter (rather than tracking through the jungle). From there, the group was able to eventually make their way to what seemed to have been some kind of throne room, surprisingly enough, adorned with recent human skulls.

Before long, the spider-robots(heretical on account of being built by aliens, and by being some kind of thinking machines or robots) responsible for these grisly trophies emerged, terrifying the house guards with the party. The robots were fought off, but not before Skykes managed to summon a bunch of ghosts from the warp to terrify more people.

Shortly after that, a house guard by the name of Titus was chosen for the honor of approaching a sarcophagus near the top of the chamber. When he attempted to open it, it set off a trap, leading to a small bomb falling from the ceiling, tearing him in half.

Before spending too long mourning, the group figured out how to set off the trap, and spent an hour or so expending all the bombs it had, then heading up to the sarcophagus for their prize, the chaos Alembic.

Shortly after collecting their prize, the group heard a brief communication from the surface, suggesting that ant creatures were swarming the landing party. Skykes sent an astropathic distress signal to the Santa Cumulus, and by the time the group had reached the surface, the area was pacified, at the cost of roughly 2 dozen house guards.

From there, the group destroyed the orbital platforms, tested the Alembic, and brought it back to Azarach in the nick of time. This prevented his sudden death, but would only prolong the inevitable, as months without juvenat treatments had left him weak.

Fast forwarding 2 years, Azarach of House Grendal is dead, and Kraxius Bent is the new holder of the Warrant of Trade(after surviving some number of assassination attempts). Additionally, the warp storms that have plagued the Askellon sector receded slightly revealing what has been described as the Aquilan Passage, a break in the warp storms, heading out towards an area that's being tentatively called the Aquilan Expanse, a long inaccessible area of space bound to be full of Xenos, un-exploited worlds, and lost humans from the dark age of technology.

Brave and greedy men and women will be needed to explore this expanse. +1 profit factor to the group for having successfully captured the alembic. Before the beginning of next session, profit factor and ship will need to be established, and every PC will be allowed to spend the final 1000 xp from character creation (I'll be posting stuff related to that soon).
